PANJIM: In view of rising COVID19 cases in Goa, the Teachers Associations have decided to petition Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik seeking his intervention with regards to the State government’s failure to implement MHRD’s order allowing teachers to work from home.

All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association (AGSSTA), Higher Secondary School Teachers Association- Goa (HISTAG), Goa Headmasters Association (GHA) and Higher Secondary Principal’s Forum (HSPF) have issued separate statements demanding that govt  immediately withdraws its decision to make it mandatory for teachers to resume duty.

HISTAG President Anant Pissurlekar said it’s high time now that teachers call upon the Governor to file the petition with regards to allowing teachers to work from home, according to the guidelines issued by the Centre, in the interest of the educational sector. He had earlier met the Education Secretary as well as the Director, requesting them to allow teachers to work from home. “But since there has been no positive response from the authorities till date, we should seek for Governor Intervention,” he said.

The Associations asserted that teachers are doing their duty of conducting online classes with complete dedication. They feel that in wake of rising coronavirus cases, the safety of teachers needs to be given importance.
