PONDA: A Forest Department worker was shunted for his alleged involvement in the smuggling of catechu and teak wood froma the forests of Sacorda.
Sources say that after the transfer order was issued on Friday night, others who are part of the racket have been running from pillar to post to their political bosses to escape the long arm of the law.
After investigations revealed that the two vehicles found at Guleli and Sacorda have the common link to smuggling wood from Bhomakata, locals have suspected the involvement of some forest workers in the case.
As per the locals, the mastermind behind the racket moves around the area in a luxurious car and has allegedly built a sprawling bungalow in the land owned by the forest department. However, the department has not initiated action against the main accused till date.
As per reports, the worker who was issued a transfer order on Friday had multiple complaints against him filed with his senior officials. However, locals believe that there are more department workers involved in the scam who need to be pulled up.
