Team Goenkar spreads cleanliness

Canacona: Continuing with the mission of clearing the black spots and roadsides of garbage, team ‘Goenkar’, with the help of concerned citizens and labourers got rid of the garbage strewn from Karmalghat upto Palolem on Sunday. 
Team Goenkar known for undertaking clearing of garbage  and other waste  from public places apart from educating the general public about the ill effects of throwing garbage in the environment; on Sunday mobilised their resources in removing the garbage both organic and synthetic from Karmalghat up to Palolem in Canacona. 
At the end of the cleanliness drive the roadsides passing through Gulem, Devabagh and Palolem wore an immaculate look.
The overgrown bushes were also cleared with the use of mechanical weed cutters.
Speaking to this correspondent general secretary of ‘Goenkar’, Vikas Bhagat said that the owners and staff of different shops dotting the NH66 in Gullem were educated on the ill effects of throwing garbage in the open environment.
Those present for cleanliness drive were president of ‘Goenkar’ Jack Fernandes, general secretary Vikas Bhagat, Sandesh Telekar, John Coutinho, Canacona Municipal Council garbage committee chairperson Diwakar Pagi, councillor Hemant Naik Gaonkar and environment conscious citizens from the taluka. 
“The cleaning and clearing of the garbage on the road sides leading to the world famous beach of Palolem will be a continues process and two labourers will be deputed for this task” Jack Fernandes said.
