MARGAO: Stating that the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) is gearing up for the monsoon, Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes on Wednesday said the civic body has formed two teams to handle the pre-monsoon works in both Margao and Fatorda constituencies just before the municipal election.
However, it is pertinent to note that a vigilance case has been filed by the Shadow Council challenging the MMC tenders, which is being investigated.
However, the MMC is going ahead with the pre-monsoon works.
Stating that the civic body has formed two teams to handle both Margao and Fatorda constituencies, Fernandes said, “The Council’s Technical Section has been directed to avail the services of 50 contract-based labourers for the works. They will take up the pre-monsoon works in the two constituencies.”
Last year, the pre-monsoon works remained pending, which caused water logging and overflowing of the drains.
