Tearful adieu for tiatrist Antonette

MARGAO: The tiatr fraternity, tiatr lovers, relatives and well wishers bid a tearful adieu to versatile actress Antonette de Calangute as her mortal remains was laid to rest at the Colva cemetery on Sunday evening.

MARGAO: The tiatr fraternity, tiatr lovers, relatives and well wishers bid a tearful adieu to versatile actress Antonette de Calangute as her mortal remains was laid to rest at the Colva cemetery on Sunday evening.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life paid tributes to the well known Tiatr personality as they participated in the concelebrated Eucharistic celebration at the Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva. Parish Priest Fr Joseph Silva, who was the main celebrant at the Eucharistic celebration, paid glowing tributes to the departed actress and her contribution to the Konkani tiatr stage.
Fifty-one year old Antonette had breathed her last on Thursday after battling with kidney ailment for the last couple of months. Known for her tragedy roles, Antonnette is well remembered for her character role in tiatr such as Sangatti, 100 Vorsam and Dha Lak.
She had won a host of awards during her career spanning over two decades, including the Dalgado Konkani Academy’s Life Time Achievement award for her contribution to the field of Tiatr.
Paying rich tributes, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Prince Jacob and noted tiatrist Osvy Viegas said that Konkani Tiatr has suffered a big loss in Antonette’s death.
