MARGAO: In what is believed to be the biggest drug haul in South Goa this year, Margao Town Police raided an area on Monte Hill and seized ganja worth Rs 6.43 lakh.
Police arrested one Faizan Sayyad, aged little over 18 years, for being in possession of the large quantity of drugs. Police also informed that Faizan is part of one of the main sources of drugs supply to Goa.
It was also revealed that the accused had been caught by the Margao police when he was minor, in connection with some petty crime.
The team led by Margao Town PI Kapil Nayak, PSI Aditya Naik, constables Shashank Sakhalkar and Kalpesh Kolkar raided a deserted street near Monte hill area and seized 2.14 kgs of ganja.
During investigation the accused also revealed that ganja was brought in from Karnataka. The accused is being questioned and police are hopeful of getting to the root of the supply.
