MARGAO: An accident occurred near Birla Market, Sancoale, where a truck allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner struck 16-year-old Salman Shaikh. Shaikh, a resident of Birla, was crossing the road from Birla Market towards Queeny Junction when he was knocked down. The driver, identified as Rakesh Thakur, 35, and a resident of South Delhi, reportedly fled the scene without notifying the authorities or providing medical aid to the injured pedestrian.
Head Constable Sandeep Naik lodged a complaint on behalf of the state, prompting Verna police to register an offence under Section 279, Section 338 of the IPC and Section 134-A and B of the Motor Vehicles Act.
