The issue over the dumping of waste along the sides of village roads also dominated the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Duarte Pires.
After the meeting, Duarte told the media that the Telaulim panchayat has been knocking the doors of the GSIDC, PWD and the power department to illuminate the Telaulim bridge road, but in vain.
“The Panchayat had been after these authorities to illuminate the bridge road since the last three years. We have only received assurances and correspondence from the concerned departments,” Duarte said.
Replying to a question, he said that the Panchayat will earmark around Rs 7 lakh for the purpose of illumination.
On waste dumping along the sides of village roads, Pires lamented that waste from outside the village and garbage generated by the tenants finds its way to the village road sides. “The gram sabha has now decided that the Panchayat should take care of the waste found along the roadside,” he said.
