Goa will experience an increase in maximum temperature during the next two days due to changed climatic conditions in the Southeastern region of Goa. The temperature is set to rise by two to four degrees and is one of the highest experienced after February 2023 last year.
According to the Met Department and IMD Goa due to the prevailing hot and dry air from the Southeast direction and the presence of a trough over north Karnataka to Vidharbha region, maximum daytime temperature is expected to be in the range of 34-36 °C and above normal by 2 to 4°C over South and North Goa during the next 2 days and gradual fall thereafter in maximum temperature in subsequent days. There is no large change expected in the minimum temperature in the upcoming 5 days.
The maximum temperature that was reported on February 16 was 35.7 degree Celsius (C) while the minimum temperature reported on was 22.6 degree C.
The Highest temperatures that were recorded during February month in the past were 39.2 degree C on 21.2.09, 38 degree C on 29.2.84, 37.7 degree C on 20.02.99, 37. 4 degree C on 09.02.2001, 37.2 degree C on 23.02.99, 38.2 degree C on 16.02.23, 37.9 degree C on 13.02.23, 37.2 degree C on 14.02.23 and 36.6 degree C on 23.02.20.
