SANGUEM: The Sanguem Police have summoned five villagers from Wadem Colony No 1 for inquiry on Monday December 24 at 11 am for allegedly damaging a temple signboard in the village.
Though there were some tense movements in the village in the morning, the situation was defused to some extent due to timely intervention of the police team from Sanguem led by PI Sagar Ekoskar. DySP Quepem also visited the village after having been informed of the incident.
There was also another temporary structure put up by some Catholic boys by the road side and this was also damaged by unknown persons. However, no complaint with respect to the damaged caused to the temporary structure was filed at the police station.
Police sources informed that there were also some differences between some members of the two communities over putting up a crib near the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal by some boys in the village touching the retaining wall. Sources informed that a group of select boys was reportedly putting up the crib at the place since last about three years in addition to the community crib erected near the Cross in the village.
However, the situation pertaining to erecting the crib near the Ganeshotsav Mandal was defused and brought under control after the boys involved in making the crib allegedly agreed to remove the structures erected for the crib.
Villagers alleged that the road side structure being used for playing loud music and drinking which the villagers claim to disturb peace in the village.
Meanwhile, the boys named in the complainant have denied their involvement in the alleged act.
It is also learnt that a meeting was held in the village in the morning session to discuss over the two issues that rocked in the village and disturbed the peace in the village.
