PONDA: The temple town of Ponda is seeing a huge surge of tourists with the New Year 2024 almost at hand. In a bid to enforce decorum in terms of attire, some temple committees in Ponda Taluka has decided to strictly implement a dress code for all visitors from January 1, by displaying the dress code on the notice boards in the temple premises.
Some temple committees are already implementing this rule since the past few years. Those wearing inappropriate attire are made to wear shawls if they wish to enter into the temple. Many tourists visit these temples besides huge crowd of devotees.
The dress code will be implemented at Ramnathi Temple from January 1, 2024 with guidelines for visitors. Those entering the temple will have to wear proper dress. The temple has put up a notice board explaining the decorum which needs to be maintained by visitors.
According to an official of Ramnath Devastan “In order to have decorum and to maintain the sanctity in the temple and the surroundings, the Temple Managing Committee has decided to follow the dress code for all the people visiting the temple. Persons wearing shorts, mini-skirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low waist jeans and short length t-shirts shall not be allowed to enter into the temple.” Such as notice has been displayed at the entrance of the temple.
Meanwhile the Shantadurga Temple at Kavlem and many other temples in Ponda Taluka are also implementing the dress code for visitors.
