ASSAGAO: Following the directives of the Supreme Court, as many as 10 structures that were erected in the CRZ and on government property illegally at Siolim were demolished in operation carried out by Bardez taluka Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar.
Most of these structures were double storeyed and were constructed illegally on government land at Uddo beach at Guddem-Siolim.
The structures were built by one Mayur Toraskar in connivance with some persons from Delhi.
After the matter reached the court, the court immediately passed a demolition order and the Bardez Mamlatdar along with the panchayat talathi and a strong posse of policemen executed the demolition work in survey number 119/1 of the Siolim Marna village.
It is learnt that this is a big area admeasuring about 50,000 square metres and was encroached.
Bardez Mamlatdar Prataprao Goankar informed that the operation was carried out peacefully throughout the day and since it was a court matter and the land in question was government land, the demolition had to be carried out quickly.
