Tenant verification, bad roads debated at Bandora gram sabha

PONDA: Tenant verification, bad roads on account of sewerage work and underground power cabling were some of the issues that dominated the Bandora gram sabha yesterday.

Villagers demanded that the police intensify the tenant verification drive inorder to prevent criminals from residing in rented premises at Bandora.

Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik told the villagers that he had already discussed the issue with Ponda police. “The panchayat has been asked to conduct  verification of tenants with the help of the local panch member and the police have promised to extend a helping hand,” said Naik.

Nageshi locals express concern over agricultural fields and nullahs turning into waste dumping ground and charged that accumulation of stagnant water in fields was a fertile breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Locals brought to the notice of  the panchayat how electric panels were dangerously hanging by the roadside and hit out at the contractor for not heeding to the advice of locals and minced no words while hitting out at the unplanned underground power cabling work. The Sarpanch said he would bring the power department AE , JE for site inspection.

Locals said the road from Sakhwar Ramnathi to Undir was completely  damaged on account of ongoing sewerage and underground power cabling work and claimed the residents were suffering for the last two years.

They alleged that the gutter was choked and overflowing on road leading to more miseries.

The Sarpanch said the damaged road would be repaired after the monsoon and urged locals to pay house taxes.
