MARGAO: The State government will soon float a tender for the setting up of an incinerator at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, to take care of its bio-medical waste.
Chief Secretary B Vijayan told elected representatives of Salcete panchayat and municipal bodies at the Ravindra Bhavan on Wednesday that the tender will be floated within the next one month given the bio-medical waste problem faced by the State.
The government will collect bio-medical waste generated in hospitals and nursing homes by levying a prescribed fee and the project will be run on no-profit no-loss basis. “The incinerator will be big enough to take care of the bio-medical waste generated in the State”,
he added.
