PANJIM: Minister for Public Works Department Ramakrishna Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday said that the government has floated tenders for consultancy of the four-laning of NH17 and NH 4 project, which would be opened in the third week of December.
While financial sanctions would be sought for the project, Dhavalikar did not divulge the estimated cost of the project pointing out that this task would be entrusted to the consultants to be appointed later this month.
The PWD ministry, he said, would be getting nearly Rs 160 crore by way of central funds under National Highways and Central Road Fund.
“This amount is due to come by the end of this month,” Dhavalikar said.
The PWD minister said that the Union Minister for Surface Road and Highways, Oscar Fernandes deferred plans of inspecting the NH 17 up to Karwar and would reschedule plans shortly. He, however, disclosed that they had telephonically spoken and Fernandes has assured to help Goa with additional funding for three other projects to the tune of Rs 300 crore for four laning of NH 17 and NH 4 and the new Zuari bridge.
