According to reports, the locals sought to know the exact details of the project in view of works being carried out in fenced compound. The project details are also not displayed anywhere or outside the compound. The locals are suspicious of the project as huge cracks were noticed on a house belonging to a local in the area.
The locals tried to get in touch with the builder of the project and Calangute Sarpanch Pascoala Fernandes, but to no avail. Tension prevailed in the area for almost two hours with the locals waiting patiently for the builder to open the gate of the project compound from 6 pm to 8 pm. Finally, the locals decided to call on the Calangute Sarpanch Fernandes in the panchayat office on Wednesday at 4 pm to seek details of the project.
Meanwhile, a team of Calangute police rushed in two jeeps drawing criticism from the villagers. The villagers questioned the arrival of the police when they had gathered to seek details about the project. A villager was heard grumbling “When we call them, the police do not come, but when outsiders and builders telephone them, they immediately arrive at the site without any delay.”
