Tension at feast fair site as stall owner blocks access to Madel resident

Parks vehicle in a private property; residents demand ban on feast fairs

MARGAO: Tension rent the air as a brawl broke out at the feast fair site at Madel, Fatorda, when a stall owner parked his vehicle in a private property, blocking access to the resident.

On receiving information about the incident, Councillor Francis Jonas, along with the police, rushed to the site and tried to resolve the issue. However, Madel residents strongly condemned the incident and demanded a ban on such fairs in the near future.

According to sources, the stall owner was loading material from his stall when he parked his vehicle in a private property, thereby blocking the owner from entering his property. When the owners tried to enter the property with their car, they found the passage obstructed by the stall owner’s vehicle. Subsequently, there were arguments between both parties, which prompted the police and local residents to intervene.

It may be recalled that Madel residents have been raising their opposition to the feast fair in the area, alleging mismanagement by the Margao Municipal Council. In the past, the residents have voiced their opposition over the disorder and inconvenience caused by the feast fair.

The residents have requested the civic body to address their concerns and implement measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the feast fair.
