MARGAO: Tension rent the air at Kulti as residents of Mahalwada, Mhagdal, Galgibaga, Talpona and Sadolxem assembled at the plateau in large numbers after they learnt that the bore well, which was earlier sealed by the Water Resources Department (WRD) was being reused.
Later, the Canacona Police deputed two head constables to inspect the site and when they learnt that there were no approvals, they ordered that the bore well be resealed.
Earlier in the day, responding to the call given by Poinguinkarancho Ekvott, the residents on reaching the site, found that the bore well, which was earlier sealed by the authorities was in use and the water drawn from it, was used at the modern mobile concrete mixing plant and the same was being transported to various sites along the NH17 through the tankers.
It maybe recalled that the bore well was sealed by the WRD authorities following an agitation by locals in April wherein they complained to the WRD and PWD of their wells running dry. However, a visit to the site on Thursday, it was found that the seal was allegedly broken by contractors.
