PONDA: The tension rent the air in Karay-Mal, Shiroda on Monday as the locals spotted a leopard in the residential area at around 8 am.
The locals immediately reported the matter to the forest officials and demanded that the department adopt immediate measures to ensure safety of the villagers.
It is pertinent to note that since past couple of years, the villagers of Talavlim, Kavlem and Borim have been complaining about a leopard moving freely in their area during the day but this time Shiroda locals have complained about the wild cat moving freely in their area.
Earlier, there were complaints from Talavlim locals that during the night they spotted a leopard moving freely in front of the courtyard of some houses.
The locals also complained to the panchayats that the leopard had killed their cattle and dogs at night.
