MARGAO: It is vital to safeguard the freedom of every individual, allowing citizens the liberty to pursue happiness in their chosen manner. Imposing restrictions on people’s way of life is detrimental to democracy, emphasised eminent intellectual Shashi Tharoor, during an interactive session with eminent Goans at Margao.
Tharoor said, “We need to encourage and allow our citizens to retain their Indian passports even if they acquire citizenship elsewhere, for which we must find a legal solution. Personally, I will advocate for this.”
He highlighted the inclusive nature of Indians, who readily embrace various lifestyles, cultures, and cuisines.
“I am completely against the destruction of the environment for the so-called development which will not benefit the State at all. It is the duty of the government to find alternatives if people are against any projects,” Tharoor said.
