The temporary pedestrian bridge on Galgibag river might be dangerous in monsoon if proper care is not taken.
To alleviate the problems faced by the locals residing on either side of Galgibag river the pedestrian bridge constructed might be disastrous if proper care is not taken while cross-walking over the bridge.
The Galgibag river is being bridged for a four-lane bypass NH road from Mashem to Char Rasta which once commissioned will reduce the distance between Canacona and Karwar by almost 10 kms. The bridge is coming right on the ferry wharf which was used to ferry people across the river, due to the construction activity at both the ferry points the locals had requested the PWD for some solution.
As a stop gap arrangement the contractors of the bypass M/s M. Venkata Rao Infra Projects Ltd has built a temporary pedestrian bridge with temporary support piers of MS angles and MS sheets to the delight of everyone living in the vicinity. In fact a look at this foot bridge suggests that it is built with the leftover material from the construction work for the bypass. This unique structure in the locality has attracted many visitors to take selfies walking on the bridge so close to the water during high tide.
