The Holy Week, on Herald’s digital channels

PANJIM: Dear Goans, this year’s Holy Week will be observed in unusual times. With the suspension of public Masses throughout the archdiocese, there will be no public Palm Sunday masses in our parishes, no public Triduum liturgies, nor joyous Easter Sunday Masses with the congregation.

We will all miss the solemnity of the Holy Week in our Churches. Many feel that the void created in our spiritual lives can also draw us closer to the Lord’s own solitude in his final agony and suffering.

The week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday will be spent by many in prayer, reflection and meditation from the confines of their homes. In the churches and the seminaries, there will be Eucharistic celebrations culminating in the glorious celebration of Easter, behind closed doors. 

But we know that Christ is alive and among us. “I am with you always,” he promised (Mt 28:20).

Herald, as the Voice of Goa, has in humility, solidarity and devotion made arrangements to film the celebrations of mass on Palm Sunday, through Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, on Maundy Thursday, the Good Friday Service and the glorious celebration of Easter. 

Our video team, with special arrangement will be present at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Caranzalem, Panjim to film the Eucharistic Celebrations and services, taking all due health related precautions, as mandated.

These will be telecast live on our YouTube channel HCN Goa, our website www.heraldgoa.in and on our Facebook page on Facebook live @oheraldogoa.

The timings of the masses will be as follows: Palm Sunday 8am; Monday to Wednesday 7.30am, Maundy Thursday 5 pm; Good Friday 3pm; Easter Vigil (Saturday night) 11.30pm and Easter Sunday English mass 9am.

Let us be thankful of the blessings of the technological age that we will be able to watch this live streaming, a reminder that the Church is still publicly in prayer.
