MAPUSA: Mapusa police register two more offences in land grabbing cases, and booked 12 persons including Bardez Mamlatdar in yet another case.
Mapusa police have registered two separate FIR’s under sections 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 419, 420 r/w 34 IPC based on the complaints filed by Anacleto Monteiro and Vincent D’Souza residents of Anjuna against Branca Cassiana Diniz alias Branca Rodrigues, Paulina Diniz alias Palmira Gonsalves and Mariano Gonsalves, Royson Rodrigues and Rahul Desai Bardez Mamlatdar. These are the same people who are booked in the case of Esperanca Oliveira on May 31 this year.
The new name added are Lemchu James, Anand Mandrekar, Rita Fernandes, Joaquim Mascarenhas and Lenchu Gonsalves.
The accused persons have dishonestly prepared forged documents in respect of landed property survey No. 39/ 6 of Aasagao Village while 78/2 of Anjuna Village in respect of the identity of legal heirs of landed property by impersonating legal heirs of the property. Further, all accused persons with their common intention fraudulently and knowingly produced the forged documents of the landed property before the concerned authorities and succeeded in transferring the rights over the landed property by depriving the legal heirs of enjoying their legal rights thereby cheating the legal heirs of the landed property.
It can be recalled that Herald has been highlighting this issue of land grabbing where groups of people have allegedly transferred and grabbed the land of Niz Goankars from Badem, Anjuna, Aasagao and other parts of North Goa.
Though the police have registered an offence, nabbing the accused involved in grabbing land at the earliest is the need of the hour.
