On the lines of the Panjim home, Goa has three other branches of the Missionaries of Charity in Carambolim, Cotto de Fatorpa and Quepem. The Carambolim Home is Goa’s oldest which began in 1964, the Panjim home was inaugurated in 1976. While all the homes cater to women, the St Joseph’s home in Quepem is dedicated to destitute men.
Mother Teresa herself made a trip to Goa inaugurating the home in Panjim in 1986, a photo of her visit is framed on the wall of the home.
Like their Panjim home, the other homes too, work on the basis of helping anyone who is poor and meeting the needs of the dying and the destitute. Their Quepem home has around 80 men living, most of whom are disabled and handicapped.
