PONDA: While everyone is talking about the video of the cow playing football at Madrol ground with some boys, locals of the area share the true story of the cow, which evokes feeling of sympathy.
As much as it was amusing for the neutral,Mardol locals have a different theory as to why the cow is always protecting the ‘football’. Incidentally, the cow’s defending skills were praised on social media, locals point out that for the animal, the football reminds her of her lost calf. One of the locals recalled that the stray cow had given birth to a white calf recently and in a tragic accident, the calf was hit on the road around a week ago and succumbed to the injuries sustained. It is the belief of the locals that the cow is disturbed by this loss and has been roaming around in the Mardol temple area. According to them the cow is treating the football as her calf and while it may appear that she is playing with the ball, in reality, she does not allow anyone to take the ball and chases the boys who take it from her. They say this is how the cow is trying to keep the football safe and that the way she acts with the ball is similar to the way a cow would act with her new born calf.
