An attempt was made by unidentified persons to break open the Laxmi Mata shrine and its donation box near the Curchorem bus stand. The shrine, installed by the Rickshaw Pilot Association, was reportedly damaged during the incident.
According to a complaint filed with the Curchorem Police, the miscreants tried to steal the coins kept inside the donation box after partially breaking it open. The act has shocked local residents, especially as the incident occurred barely 50 metres away from the Curchorem Police Station.
