Mapusa: Thieves decamped with a cellphone, pen drive and a silver Shiv Ling – all valued at Rs 50,000 from the Shri Vitthal Rakhumai temple located at Ansabhat in Mapusa.
Police stated that the incident came to light after the temple priest Sunil Nayak came to perform Pooja in the premises and a police complaint was later filed with the Mapusa police.
Police said that on Thursday evening, a devotee had brought a new two – wheeler for blessing and the priest had gone out to perform pooja outside the temple and by the time he returned, the thief disappeared from the site with the valuables.
Mapusa police have registered an offence against the unknown accused and are investigating the case.
