MAPUSA: Port Minister Michael Lobo has informed that thermal scanners will be installed at interstate bus terminals, railway stations and checkposts to screen passengers.
“Right, now the thermal scanners have been installed at the airport however, there is requirement to installing them at railway stations, bus terminals and check posts since many tourists enter the State through interstate buses and railway stations. The thermal scanners have been ordered and should reach Goa by tomorrow. We cannot stop people from entering Goa but we have to take precautionary measures”, the minister said.
He informed that workers of Calangute, Nagoa, Arpora and Candolim panchayats will clean all public places in the coastal belt with Sodium hypochlorite solution.
Lobo urged the medical stores and supermarkets owners against selling hand sanitisers and face masks at a higher price and added that no one should take advantage of the situation since these are essential commodities.
The Minister said he has directed the Legal Metrology Department to warn the store owners selling these essential commodities at higher price and take appropriate action against them.
When asked if coronavirus will affect the ZP polls, Lobo said, “If there is any positive case in the State then it will affect the ZP elections. However, the Chief Minister has already assured that hand sanitizers will be made available at all the polling booths.”
