MARGAO: Alert residents of Bandfol-Chinchinim on Saturday caught red-handed a miscreant while he was decamping with household items from a house this morning.
Cuncolim police later arrested Aman Bepari (19) following a complaint lodged by the house owner Fatima Fernandes.
The complainant told the media that household items, including the seat of an imported Suzuki motorcycle, all worth Rs 2-3 lakh, have been stolen from the house during the absence of the members.
She said the miscreants effected entry into the house by breaking open the door with a pickaxe and robbed the items.
When contacted, Cuncolim PSI Tukaram Chawan said that some of the stolen items, recovered from the possession of the accused, are from the house of the complainant. He said that police investigations into the case are on.
