MARGAO: Cash, gold and diamond jewellery jointly worth Rs 14 lakh were stolen from a bungalow in Mottiwado-Benaulim on Sunday.
Colva police have arrested two suspects.
In his complaint to the police, the bungalow owner Ashwin Sarin stated that thieves broke into his house through the windows sometime after 1 am. They learned of the incident in the morning after finding the window open and the place ransacked.
One of the residents Nirmala Sarin had returned to Goa with gold and diamond jewellery from her locker in Agra. She was to deposit the same in a locker in Goa on Monday. Her husband arrived in Goa on Saturday and they went to sleep at around 1 am. When they woke up, Nirmala went to an adjoining room and learned of the heist.
Police stated that the jewellery was worth Rs 12.5 lakh and the cash was over Rs 1 lakh.
Colva Police Inspector Braz Menezes is investigating the case.
