PANJIM: The Congress has alleged that the lobbying to form a third front for the upcoming assembly elections is a master plan by the Bharatiya Janata Party to return to power in the 2017 polls. Congress also claimed that the outline development plan (ODP) is a ‘special purpose vehicle’ for the front to generate funds.
Addressing the media on Monday, Congress spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said, “Third front and BJP are two different sides of the same coin and ODP is a special purpose vehicles to generate funds for the front.”
“Why is the BJP legislator who is a key player in the third front been given charge of the ODP?” Kawthankar asked, claiming this to be a major scam by the government. The ODP comes under the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) which is headed by BJP legislator Michael Lobo, who has been linked to the third front.
Kawthankar also said that the third front has been created by BJP to gain sympathy of the anti-corruption and anti-BJP voters. “The third front will take votes from the anti-corruption and anti-BJP voters and then this front will support the BJP and get it back to power through the back door,” he added.
He also pointed out to the allegation made by BJP Taleigao leader Dattaprasad Naik against the ODP. He said, “We are seeing ache din for BJP leaders who used to criticize the party earlier and those who have worked for the party are now coming out in the media and speaking their man ki batt.”
