PANJIM: The Big Bazaar at the Mall de Goa in Porvorim is the number one outlet in the South India circle and is considered amongst the top three performers in the country. This was revealed by a senior executive of the outlet.
Big Bazaar operations manager Rohit D’souza said the store was profitable and revenue was increasing every year by 20% and a large percentage of the sales was coming from Fashion Big Bazaar (FBB). “FBB has evolved into a standalone brand and is very popular due to the various fashion options available and the attractive price points,” D’Souza said.
He claimed that of the approximately 35,000 footfalls in the mall every day, around 20,000 visited the mall because of the store and his staff was able to affect 50 per cent conversion in terms of sales. The performance of the store was a source of pride and as was the practice senior personnel would visit the various outlets to evaluate the work.
The company, he said, was in the process of expanding its reach and had now taken a major share of the retail space at the airport in the domestic and international halves of the terminal. The store had a pretty reasonable number of Goans on the staff but he admitted retail was a very tough career which involved long hours and pressure. Another outlet is expected to be established in Margao soon.
