MARGAO: There have been complaints galore from TB hospital authorities and patients alike, but this stretch of the Monte Hill road between the TB hospital and the judges’ colony lies to be in a bad state and unmotorable.
Patients and hospital authorities have been crying foul over the unmotorable condition of the road, but in vain. When the media had brought the pathetic condition of the road to the notice of a senior bureaucrat last year and sought his intervention during inspection of the TB hospital a couple of months ago early last year, he ruled out his intervention on the plea that roads come under the PWD domain.
Since then, a number of health and other officials had visited the TB hospital, but the ground reality remains unchanged.
Says TB Hospital medical superintendent, Dr Marcia: “My office has written several letters to the PWD and other authorities to take up the road repairs on a priority. The road is used to ferry TB patients to Hospicio on a routine basis”, she said.
A Margao municipal councillor informed that the PWD had finally tendered the road at a cost of over Rs one crore, but lamented that the repair work is yet to start on the damaged road. PWD officials were not available for comment to ascertain whether they have issued the work order to the contractor to work on the project.
