MAPUSA: On Saturday, the Thivim MLA, Nilkanth Halarnkar demanded the resignation of PWD Minister, Sudin Dhavalikar for his failure to solve the water shortage issue and provide the people with 24/7 water supply in Bardez taluka. The locals are fed up with the issue of acute water shortage plaguing the people of Bardez, Pernem and parts of Bicholim taluka over the past week.
The local MLA pointed out that the PWD Minister has totally neglected Bardez despite giving assurance on the floor of the house.
Addressing media persons at his office at Thivim, the MLA has appealed to the people to be alert and protest against the injustice done by the BJP government of denial of basic necessity like water. He pointed out that the people have been suffering even during festive time due to irregular water supply and it is time the government has a plan about development.
“This government should be toppled according to the way things are going on currently. The PWD minister has been a part of the government for so many years and now for a term of seven years he has been a minister. Sadly he has not found a solution to the water shortage issue,” he added.
“The people have been deprived of water during Chaturthi and Diwali due to some technical fault at the Assonora Water Treatment Plant. The PWD Minister should have provided alternate source of water to the people,” said Halarnkar.
Thivim is an example of one such place that has been totally neglected due to the presence of a congress candidate.  It is high time the people of Bardez teach the existing BJP government a lesson in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It is time the people take to the streets until demands are resolved.
“The government has failed to take up prospective development works and it is the duty of every MLA to fulfill the aspirations of the people.  After getting elected as an MLA I have executed so many works. It is the duty of the minister to see that basic necessity like water is provided to the people. I appeal to the people to wake up and become alert against the injustice being done to them,” Halarnkar concluded.
