MARGAO: The traditional Fama of Infant Jesus was celebrated with pomp and religious fervour at Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva, on Monday.
Thousands of devotees trickled into Colva throughout the day to seek blessings of the miraculous Infant Jesus and to offer thanks for
favours granted.
The solemn ceremony began with an Eucharistic celebration at 5.30 am by the Parish Priest Fr Joseph Da Silva. The statue of Infant Jesus was later brought down from the altar, followed by procession, blessing and veneration.
In his homily, Fr Da Silva said that Lord Jesus grew in wisdom, age and grace, gaining favour with God and men. He underlined the need for men to live a life as Jesus had lived in this world.
The Goa police made elaborate security and traffic arrangements in and around the Church as a matter of abundant caution.
