MAPUSA: The Goa Children’s court has granted bail to the three accused involved in the kidnapping and rape of minor girls. The Colvale police station had arrested the accused.
All the three accused –Vikas Mukhia (19) native of Bihar and presently residing in Bicholim, Naveed Paniband (19) and Tousif Killedar (18) both from Karnataka, were released on personal bail bond of Rs 15,000 each and a surety of the like amount.
The accused are released on bail condition that they shall not leave the country without the prior permission of the Court, shall report to the inquiry officer at the Colvale police station as and when required for the purpose of investigation. They should also not threaten nor interfere with the victim and the witnesses or tamper with the evidence and appear before the Court for the case on every date of hearing. Further, the accused shall not commit any offence/ criminal activity.
During the bail hearing, Adv Vinayak Porob representing the accused Vikas Mukhia argued that the applicant is a student and had taken admission in Class XI in a Higher Secondary School and is booked on basis of a false and fabricated complaint registered FIR No.37/2023 u/s 363, 376 r/w 34 of IPC, Section 8 (2) of the Goa Children’s Act and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
Adv Porob argued that the applicant though is innocent has been falsely implicated and arbitrarily arrested by the police.
