Three arrested in Borim for illegal beef transportation

PONDA: Authorities have arrested three individuals in Borim for their alleged involvement in the illegal transportation of beef. The incident unfolded on Sunday at 11 am when vigilant Borim youth discovered suspicious activities involving a tempo. Acting promptly, these youth contacted the local police, leading to the seizure of the tempo and its illicit cargo.

Upon examination, law enforcement officials confirmed that the tempo was indeed carrying a substantial stock of illegal meat. Preliminary estimates suggest that the confiscated meat amounts to approximately two tons. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Faizal Munaf Bepari, aged 27, hailing from Banavali, and Altaf Bepari, aged 32, from Belgaum. They are facing charges related to the unauthorized transportation of beef.

Additionally, a case has been registered against Riyaz Ahmed Bepari, the owner and driver of the impounded tempo. The contraband beef was intended for disposal at the PMC Garbage Treatment Plant in Kerya. However, local residents expressed strong opposition to this plan, citing concerns about potential foul odors emanating from the decomposing meat. As a result, the tempo was redirected back to the police station, pending further investigation.
