MARGAO: The three-day carnival festivities in Margao began on Friday at the municipal square. Organised by the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), the carnival programme started at 5 pm and will end on Saturday by 10 pm. The carnival floats will be held on Sunday.

On Friday, the opening event was the Carnival Zomnivello Khell tiatr, which was followed by the Mell/Intruz play by Niz Kolakar Ambaulim. Thereafter, there were various entertainment programmes, which ended with a live band performance by Brothers in Arms.

There were also various off the stage competitions such as face and mask painting, monologue etc for which spot entries were accepted. These competitions will be there on Saturday too.

On Saturday, the second day programme will start at 4 pm. Intrumez de Velum will perform parade. This will be followed by a Zomnivello Khel and will end with a live band performance by Black Slade.

The MMC has requested the public to be seated before 4 pm on the second day.

On Sunday, the floats parade will start at 3.30 pm from Old District Court to Borkar Super Stores, Fatorda.
