Three held for assault on Ukranians

CALANGUTE, MARCH 10 Calangute Police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with the assault on Ukranian tourists at Candolim. Calangute Police have identified the accused as Suresh Naik (Pirna), Agnelo D'Souza (Candolim) and Rohit Nagvekar (Verem). The accused have been remanded to three days judicial custody. PSI Harish Gauns is investigating the case.

Calangute Police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with the assault on Ukranian tourists at Candolim.
Calangute Police have identified the accused as Suresh Naik (Pirna), Agnelo D’Souza (Candolim) and Rohit Nagvekar (Verem). The accused have been remanded to three days judicial custody. PSI Harish Gauns is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that on late Tuesday evening, about nine Ukranian tourists were attacked by a taxi driver and unknown persons at Candolim.
The taxi driver and others allegedly assaulted the Ukranian tourists while they were on their way to a discotheque at Candolim, following an altercation due to blockade of path near a supermarket at Candolim.
One of the Ukranian tourists allegedly kicked the taxi which resulted in altercation and in the melee the taxi drivers and locals assaulted the nine Ukranians tourists.
One of the injured Ukranian later filed a police complaint with Calangute Police following which arrests were made.
