MARGAO: Margao Police on late Monday evening arrested three persons on the charge of kidnapping, unnatural sex, assault and for wrongfully confining a minor migrant boy aged 13 years, resident of Curchorem.
Police gave the names of arrested as Pritesh Sarkar, 24, Laximikanta Gahir, 23, from Orissa and Yeshwant Sahu, 32, from Chattisgarh, who have been charged under sections 363, 324, 342, 377 read with 34 IPC and 8 of Goa Children’s Act.
All the three accused were produced before the judicial magistrate first class, (JMFC) Margao, and have been remanded to seven days police custody.
The accused are reported to have kidnapped the minor victim and brought him to Margao. The trio took the victim below the railway foot bridge, near the old railway station, Margao and assaulted him, before allegedly having unnatural sex with the minor.
Margao PI Sudesh Naik said one of policemen, who was part of the night patrol team on duty, reportedly saw the accused involved in the act.
While the police managed to rescue the minor and arrest Sarkar, his two other accomplices managed to escape. A massive hunt was launched after which all those staying in the vicinity were rounded up.
The remaining two accused were among those rounded up and the victim had no problem identifying them.
They were identified as Gahir and Sahu. All the three were immediately placed under arrest. Further investigation is being conducted by PI Naik under supervision of Margao DySP Mohan Naik and South Goa SP Shekar Prabhudessai.
