VASCO: The Verna police Tuesday arrested two more persons in connection with two separate robbery cases that were reported to Verna police, last Saturday. According to the Verna police, they had arrested one Mohammed Zakir on July 2. Zakir was caught by the complainant, while the accused and his two colleagues were attempting to steal a mobile phone by opening the sliding window of his house at Queeny Nagar Sancoale.
On interrogation, Zakir confessed to committing another theft along with his colleagues on the same night at IDC Verna.
Verna PI Shailesh Narvekar informed that, they had received complaints of two theft cases on Saturday from two different parties. In the first case, goods including 12 laptops, two cameras, eight data lockers etc all worth Rs 3.74 was stolen by unknown accused persons from a company premises at IDC, Verna. The second is the Queeny Nagar case.
“While investigating the case, Zakir initially refused to cooperate, but later confessed that he along with other two persons namely Paul Chima, resident of Himachal Pradesh, Mauvin Fernandes, resident of Chinchinim had attempted to rob the mobile phone from the house of Rajesh Gupta resident of Queeny Nagar, Sancoale and on the same night they had also effected entry into the office of Autocal Solution Private Limited, Verna and had stolen goods worth Rs 3.74 lakhs,” Narvekar said.
After collecting information, the police laid a trap and caught both the absconding accused after a long chase. All the accused persons have been remanded in police custody for three days. Police also suspect that the accused may also be involved in similar thefts reported elsewhere.
