Three held for robbing Karnataka tourists

Calangute: Three touts were arrested by  police on Tuesday night for allegedly assaulting and robbing two tourists by confining them in a room at Calangute. 

S Satishkumar Shetty, a resident of Kolar, Karnataka, lodged a complaint with Calangute police that three persons claiming to be tourist guides, took him and a friend to a room where they were confined, assaulted and threatened with further harm and forced to transfer Rs 30,000 through a UPI transaction, thereby committing robbery, police said. 

Following the complaint, Calangute police arrested the three accused: Sharukhan Devagiri, 25, a resident of Canca, Parra, Cyril Dias, 42, a resident of Devsu, Pernem, and Avinash Patel, 32, a resident of Calangute.
