PANJIM: In a latest move, the Special Investigating Team (SIT) has nabbed two officials of the Archives Department and another accused for hatching a criminal conspiracy to grab land in Calangute.
SIT arrested two Archives Department officials – 45-year-old Diresh Gangaram Naik, a resident of Bandora, Ponda and 34-year-old Mahesh Maddo Naik, a resident of Madkai, Ponda. The team also arrested 38-year-old Anil Anand Naik from Bandora, Ponda.
Diresh has been arrested for the second time in connection with land grabbing.
The SIT has informed that the accused hatched criminal conspiracy and in furtherance of cheating the rightful owner of the property prepared forged/fake documents of property Survey Nos. 26/9 and 476/2 of Calangute village, belonging to the complainants and further produced the same as genuine before concerned authorities to transfer the ownership rights, thereby cheating the complainant.
The accused persons along with six more accused persons including the Mamlatdar of Bardez hatched the conspiracy to grab land owned by the complainant Hilario Fernandes and Juliet Fernandes.
Diresh, Mahesh and Anil along with six other accused persons have been booked and case is being investigated under Sections 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 420 r/w 120-B of the IPC.
