PONDA: The driver of a goods rickshaw had a miraculous escape after a container truck crashed on it on Saturday midnight, at Usgao.
According to reports, rickshaw Driver Santosh Malkar (47) from Usgao was sleeping in the vehicle cabin after parking the same along the road in the village. A container truck proceeding through the village crashed on the rickshaw after the driver of the truck lost control of his vehicle.
Malkar got trapped in the cabin but was released by some locals. He was admitted in Ugao primary health centre with injuries.
Police said that the driver and cleaner of the ill-fated container have been admitted in Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital at Bambolim with severe injuries.
According to the Ponda police, the container was proceeding towards Mollem from Dharbandora and on reaching at Pansule junction, the driver lost control, dashed against an electric pole and then crashed on the rickshaw.
