According to Verna Police, the accident was reported near Pirni junction slope in Verna, as a speeding container truck dashed against an oncoming Honda Amaze car and overturned on the road, and damaged another car. All the three occupants of Honda Amaze car sustained injuries. The driver of container truck fled from the scene.
“All three occupants of the Honda Amaze car including a WRD official Mohan Kambli (55) who was taking a test drive of the car, his wife Bharati Kambli (49), and Showroom employee Sahil Bhandari (22) sustained injuries. All three were shifted to Hospicio Hospital, Margao from where Sahil and Mohan were shifted to GMC Bambolim while Bharati is undergoing treatment at Hospicio,” police said.
A massive traffic jam ensued. Verna police, officials of Vasco traffic cell rushed to the site and traffic had to be diverted until the truck was cleared which took about two hours.
Police have registered a case against the driver of container truck and efforts are on to trace him. Head constable Navil Fernandes is further investigating.
