Calangute: The Calangute police on Monday arrested three natives of Gadag, Karnataka, for assaulting and robbing four tourists from Kerala of their mobile phones at Baga in the early hours of Monday.
In his complaint, Ashil Johnson, 23, a resident of Wayanad, Kerala, stated he and his friends were waylaid by some unknown persons and attacked with fist blows while they were going to their hotel in Baga,at around 2.25am on Monday. The accused also snatched away their mobile phones worth Rs 1.8 lakh and fled from the spot.

Calangute police during inquiries identified the accused and arrested three of them from Panjim within hours. They have been identified as Srinivas Lamani, 23, Shiv Lamani, 22, and Akhilesh Chavan, 19, all residents of Gadag, Karnataka.
Swift intervention by the police resulted in the arrest of Karnataka natives Srinivas Lamani (23), Shiv Lamani (22) and Akhilesh Chavan (19), at Panaji. The mobile phones were recovered from them after they confessed to the crime.
Further investigation is in progress.
