Three Lives Lost as Family Car Plunges into River at Sanguem

Sanguem witnessed a heartbreaking incident as a family met with a watery grave when their car plunged into the river from the Taripanto Bridge late on Monday evening. The victims were identified as Rekha Naik, her husband Milind Naik, and their son, Divyansh Naik.

The distressing event occurred around 8.45 pm on Monday when the family was travelling from Kuinamol-Kalay. The authorities were immediately alerted, and the Sanguem Police, along with the Fire and Emergency Services, rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations.

The darkness and high tide in the area made the retrieval of the ill-fated car a challenging task, taking nearly two hours to recover the bodies of the woman and her son. Sadly, the husband’s body was found close to the scene of the incident on Tuesday morning at around 9.30 am.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but initial suspicions point to a possible loss of control by the driver while approaching the bridge. Further investigations are on. More details are awaited.
