Three-member committee formed to probe job scam

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that a three-member committee headed by Principal Secretary (Finance) Puneet Goel has been constituted to probe into allegations of recruitment scam in the State.

Secretary (Vigilance) Ankita Anand and Director of Vigilance Sanjeev Gauns Dessai are the other members of the committee.

The chief minister said the recruitment in the PWD would be kept on hold till the committee submitted its report. However, he did not give the deadline given to the committee to complete and submit the report.

Panjim MLA Babush Monsserate, who had accused PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar of taking bribe for providing jobs in the PWD and alleged Rs 70 crore job scam, said that credit should go to the Chief Minister for listening to the concerns raised by him and the aggrieved candidates.

“The Chief Minister took note of our concerns. Constituting an inquiry is a good sign as it will to check if there were any irregularities committed in the recruitment process” Monserrate said adding that till then the entire recruitment process in the PWD has been kept on hold.

When asked whether he had any apprehension about job scam in other government departments, Monserrate said that in other departments recruitment process might be happening properly.
