ANJUNA: With the authorities including the police already playing ‘mute spectators’ to loud music parties in the coastal belt, trance rave parties have once again come to haunt Anjuna residents, who are already haunted by the nerve-racking music.
Rave parties have been scheduled from August 11 to 19, in Anjuna’s coastal belt with posters of these parties being circulated on social media providing details of Disc Jockeys (DJs). These parties will continue playing music till late night/early morning in utter violation of noise pollution rules.

Posters with O Heraldo reveal that at least three clubs/restaurants where the parties are scheduled were sealed following the High Court order are partying on nevertheless with an ensemble of DJs and a star cast of other musicians promising a trance filed and Rave-ising Independence day weekend revelry.
Shocking the Anjuna PI says he ‘will verify’ if sound permissions have been given to these parties when O Heraldo mentioned some of them. Did he even know that at least three of them are officially sealed by the order of the Pollution Control Board?
The North’s coastal belt, especially the residents of Anjuna, are suffering on account of loud music parties being played almost every night. This nuisance of loud music is not only limited to the tourism season but continues throughout the year forcing the residents of these areas to undergo sleepless nights. With no action from the authorities concerned including the police, the people are helpless as they feel that there is no point in fighting the issue as the authorities are equally responsible for the same.
The locals said that several High Court orders have been passed but inaction on the part of the police has given the violators a free hand to flout all the rules.
They said the High Court order states that loud music must wind up by 10 pm, but in utter violation of the order, the organisers started their parties at 9 pm and continued to play loud music till the next day.
Desmond Alvares, a former member of the Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee said, “Whenever I call the Anjuna police or 112, I get a reply that we will look into it but no action takes place. When I informed the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) there was no reply.
