VASCO: Burglars broke into three offices in a building on Swatantrapath in Vasco and decamped with Rs 3.35 lakh in cash, on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
According to the police, the offices of Nasek Consultancy, Marine Link Shipping Agency and Hegde Chartered Accountancy situated in Rohan Arcade building were broken into and Rs 75,000, Rs 2.10 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively, were burgled from these offices. The burglars broke open the locks of the main doors.
The Vasco police on Friday requisitioned forensic and finger print experts and a dog squad for investigating the burglary.
Swatantrapath being the downtown area of Vasco city where several banks and financial institutions are situated, burglary in a building there has caused alarm among other offices and establishments around the building.
Fearing more burglaries, the locals have called for increased police patrolling in the market areas. They have also demanded that vehicles and people travelling through Swatantrapath after midnight to be registered to avoid further such incidents.
